November is National Home Care and Hospice Month
November has been designated National Home Care and Hospice Month. According to the National Association for Home Care & Hospice, many Americans would like to grow older in the place of their choosing and most people choose the home as their preferred place for care (November Is Home Care & Hospice Month, n.d.).
- Home care allows patients to receive many services, all from the comfort of their own homes.
- Hospice care allows patients to receive comfort (palliative) care for those with an expected life expectancy of six month or less.
Medicare covers a wide variety of services that allows your patients to receive the appropriate care needed while remaining in the comfort of their homes. Discuss with your patients about home care and hospice, what services are available, and which may be right for them.
