Avoid Duplicate Submitter ID Requests
A Submitter ID is an identification number assigned by the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) department to identify electronic billers. A separate Submitter ID is issued by each Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) to whom electronic transactions are submitted, including electronic claims, eligibility (270/271) and claim status (276/277) inquiries.
When requesting submitter IDs from multiple contractors, please do so one at a time. When CGS security is processing a request for a submitter ID, and we find a pending request from the same provider to another MAC, the request(s) will appear to be duplicates and may be rejected as such. We suggest submitting requests one at a time to each MAC, to avoid the chance of rejection.
If you have questions please contact our EDI department at 866.276.9558 and select Option 2.
