Cost Report Reopening
A reopening may be necessary if errors or corrections are discovered after a cost report has been settled. A cost report may be reopened within 3 years of the original Notice of Program Reimbursement (NPR) date and may be reopened at the request of the provider or contractor. In order for a reopening to be completed, the following requirements must be met:
- The reopening request must be received by the contractor within 3 years of the original NPR date.
- Supporting documentation for the proposed corrections must accompany the request.
- For Home Health Agencies (HHA), the reimbursement impact of the proposed corrections must be greater than $15,000.
A cost report reopening request should be submitted to the same mailing address as used for an initial cost report.
