October 23, 2015 - Revised: 10.27.15
ICD-10 LCD Update
ICD-10 coding went into effect on October 1, 2015. CGS is receiving and adjudicating claims with no major problems or complaints at this time. However, despite a large concerted effort, not all ICD-9 codes specifically map into the new policies. One reason for converting to ICD-10 is to capture more specificity through diagnosis coding. Consequently, some LCDs which previously allowed certain non-specific codes may now require a more specified ICD-10 code for coverage going forward.
When requesting the addition of any codes based on your review of the ICD 9 codes, in particular unlisted codes, your request must include case documentation that the existing code set is insufficient for proper coding.
Also, when reviewing an LCD with ICD-10 codes that are ranged; you have to click on the code listed and a new window will open displaying all codes and descriptions in the range selected.
If you or someone in your organization identifies clinically relevant codes that did not cross-walk, are not accurate or not included, please communicate your concerns to CGS via the CMD.Inquiry@cgsadmin.com email address.
Requests for additions or corrections will be considered on an individual basis.
