Interactive Voice Response (IVR) Update: Medicare Advantage Information
Effective Saturday, September 6, 2014, the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) will provide additional Medicare Advantage (MA) information. Currently, when accessing beneficiary information, and choose to obtain MA information, the IVR provides the name of the MA plan, dates of enrollment, and the plan number. Effective, September 6, 2014, before providing this information, the IVR will provide one of the following messages based on the beneficiary’s MA enrollment option.

C | This is a Medicare Advantage option code C and is a risk HMO. All claims must be billed to the HMO in lieu of traditional Medicare. |
1 | This is a Medicare Advantage option code one and is a cost HMO. All claims must be billed to traditional Medicare, your Medicare Administrative Contractor. |
2 | This is a Medicare Advantage option code two and is a cost HMO. All claims must be billed to traditional Medicare, your Medicare Administrative Contractor. |
3 | This is a Medicare Advantage option code three and is a cost HMO. All claims must be billed to traditional Medicare, your Medicare Administrative Contractor. |
Please note that MA plan information is also available via the CGS free Web portal, myCGS. For additional information, refer to the Eligibility chapter of the myCGS User Manual.
As a reminder, providers are to use the IVR to access beneficiary eligibility information, such as MA plain information. Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) shall refer providers back to the IVR to obtain information that is available by the IVR.
