Experiencing Missing or Duplicate files?
CGS acknowledges that our trading partners have experienced issues with duplicate files and missing data from some large electronic files.
In order to proactively assist our providers in avoiding these errors, it is CGS recommendation to our electronic submitters to stop submitting large files after 10:30 pm or before 2:30 am.
The CMS maintained Common Edit Module (CEM) is taken down each evening at midnight for maintenance, then starts to come back up shortly after, in stages completing by 2:30 am. Should files be processing through the CEM during this timeframe, be stopped during maintenance, then started back up again at 2:30 am, we believe this may be causing the duplicate and missing data issues.
Additionally, large files with over 5,000 claims will frequently experience issues. We strongly recommend that you cut down the size of your files to avoid long loading times. CGS recommends an optimum file size between 3,000 and 5,000.
CGS makes no guarantee that this will eliminate all duplicate or missing data, however we believe this is a common cause.
CGS will continue to proactively research all issue our electronic submitters may be experiencing.
