Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS)
The Outcome and ASsessment Information Set (OASIS) is a group of data elements that:
OASIS-C, a modification to the Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS), is required for use on all assessments that are completed on or after January 1, 2010. Refer to the All Time Point version to view the data set, which highlights new items in OASIS-C.
The OASIS Data Submission Specifications version 2.11.3 -C1 is now available. This new version applies to the OASIS-C1/ICD-9 item set, which is scheduled for implementation on January 1, 2015. For additional information, refer to the OASIS Data Specifications web page. A new version of the Errata documentation for versions 2.10 and 2.11 of the data specification is also available.
CGS does consider the documentation in the OASIS when reviewing medical records. Since our role is to pay your claims properly, our primary focus is on those M0 items which have reimbursement "points" attached to them. In addition, submission of the OASIS to the state prior to the final claim submission is a condition of payment. Any claim reviewed by Medical Review where an OASIS has not been submitted to the state repository or not submitted timely, will be denied. Please consult the OASIS User's manual, or your state OASIS Coordinator with questions regarding the OASIS data set.
Refer to the Centers of Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS)for policy and technical information related to OASIS data set for use in home health agencies. This web page also includes access to the following information.
